Only 1 piece in stock!

Maeda Asami's "Bronze Glazed Carved 7-inch Plate" features a calm bronze glaze color and a delicate carved pattern (a sculptural expression created by carving or raising a flat surface to create an image or pattern) on the rim. The center (approximately 11 cm in diameter) is deep, making it suitable for use as a pasta dish. The bronze glaze absorbs oil with use and changes to a moist texture, allowing you to enjoy its unique texture over time. Another attractive feature is the individual differences that can only be expected from handmade products, with each piece having a different expression.

This stylish plate will add a chic touch to your table and make your food stand out. The wide rim makes for a beautiful presentation, making it perfect for everyday use as well as special occasions.

Because these pieces are handmade, each one is unique in size and texture, and due to the characteristics of the glaze and clay, iron powder and pinholes (tiny holes like those made by a pinhole that occur during the manufacturing process) may be visible, but these can also be enjoyed as part of the unique texture of handmade items.

Asami Maeda - Beautiful white porcelain for everyday life

Asami Maeda was born in Tokyo in 1988 and completed her basic course in oil painting at Musashino Art University in 2006. She then pursued a career in philosophy to broaden her horizons of expression, graduating from the Department of Philosophy at Kokugakuin University's Faculty of Letters in 2011. She has delved deeply into the fusion of academia and art.

After furthering his studies, he completed his master's degree at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Letters in 2013. After that, he became fascinated with the world of ceramics and began creating his own work. In 2017, he moved to Kyoto and became independent, where he began working full-time as a ceramic artist.

While currently focusing on ceramics, she also works on crafts such as plant-dyed washi paper, and continues to produce works that utilize her unique sensibility and philosophical perspective. Maeda Asami's works captivate many people with their sheer beauty.

Characteristics of Asami Maeda's Works

Asami Maeda mainly works on white porcelain. White porcelain is beautiful and translucent, but also durable and easy to use, making it a popular "tableware" that can be used without hesitation in daily life. It features a simple design that brings out the color and texture of the food, and its appeal is that it goes well with any type of food.

Using a technique called "itchin," the squeezed patterns decorate the vessels as adorable accents. In addition, the "uchikomi" decoration, which imitates leaves found in nature, expresses the delicate veins in minute detail, allowing you to experience the beauty of a piece of nature.

Transparent pure white and profound bronze glaze

There are two main series of works by Asami Maeda available at nokaze: "white porcelain" and "bronze glaze."

White porcelain pieces are characterized by the beauty of their pure, transparent white color and their delicate, smooth texture. Their simple and sophisticated designs not only add elegance to everyday life, but also blend in with a wide range of interior styles, both Japanese and Western. These vessels and objects combine ease of use with beauty to add elegance to your dining table or space.

The appeal of bronze-glazed pieces is their unique texture, which combines a sense of solidity with warmth. The powerful shapes and rich textures give them a strong presence as accents. Each bronze piece is carefully crafted, and the more you use it, the more it develops its character, making it a masterpiece that you can cherish for a long time.

The refined beauty of white porcelain. Or the weight and warmth of bronze glaze. Both works by Asami Maeda transform everyday life into something special. Please try out these differences and add color to your daily life.

*As these are handmade, there may be individual differences in color and shape. Please enjoy the unique texture of handmade items.
