The tableware gallery "nokaze" has opened in Okazaki, Kyoto.

Okazaki is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Kyoto. Walking along Lake Biwa Canal, you can feel the gentle breeze carrying the history of this town.

We opened "nokaze - House of Utsuwa and Monogatari" in this town that, while changing with the times, continues to share its charm in terms of culture and art.

At nokaze, we not only convey the charm of the vessels themselves, but also the stories surrounding them.

Utsuwa cannot be considered separately from the artist.
This is because not only the artist's thoughts but also the environment and culture in which the artist was born and raised combine to create a single pottery.

However, we still do not know the story of each pottery.

“When you find your favorite pottery, if there is a place where you can learn about the feelings and stories behind it...”
“If you can enjoy the meal while feeling the story of the utensils...”

We believe that the stories created by nokaze will make everyday ordinary moments endearing.

By the way, did you know that there is a "flute" called "kaze"?

This famous one-section flute was passed down as a family heirloom by three great heroes: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Nokasei, which was loved by the people of the time, has been carefully inherited from the time of Nobunaga to the present day.

What did military commanders think of when they heard the sound of flutes on the battlefield? With what kind of thoughts did Nokase pass on to the next generation?

Like Nokase's flute, we want to give form to the thoughts of those who use it and the thoughts of those who inherit it, and weave stories into it.

The artist's thoughts when creating pottery.
Your thoughts on using pottery.
At nokaze , we value both and carefully communicate them.

We hope that the time you spend thinking about the story will be a moment where you can take a breather, just like spending time at home.
