Characteristics of the works of Hirotaka Tobimatsu (Tobimatsu Lanterns)
The greatest feature of Hirotaka Tobimatsu's work is the way he creates a warm space with light and shadow. His designs, which make use of the translucency of porcelain, have a nostalgic yet fresh "retro-modern" atmosphere. Lampshades and Her diverse works, such as vessels and vases, are simple yet intricately beautiful, gently illuminating our everyday living spaces. They are also used in the lighting fixtures of nokaze stores, lending a sense of presence to the entire space.
Simple and modern tableware that makes the most of the translucency of Tobimatsutouki's porcelain.
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works are characterized by their technique that makes the most of the translucency of porcelain. The casting method that Hirotaka Tobimatsu uses involves pouring liquid porcelain clay into a plaster mold, achieving a uniform, smooth shape and beautiful translucency. Another feature of his works is the use of a uniquely adjusted porcelain clay to create a delicate texture that allows more light to pass through than regular porcelain.
The lampshades in particular are attractive in their design, with a soft light that gently envelops the entire space in the darkness, giving them a modern yet somewhat nostalgic impression. Furthermore, the plates and bowls combine durability and simple beauty suitable for everyday use, and the vases are designed to naturally harmonize with plants and the space.
A comfortable time created by light and shadow
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works show his strong commitment to the expression of light. "Light is not just a physical source of brightness; it also brings comfort to people's hearts," says Hirotaka Tobimatsu. True to his words, his works create warmth and rhythm in the space through light.
The lampshades are meticulously calculated down to the angle at which the light leaks and the softness of the light, making them artistic items that go beyond mere lighting fixtures. The slight unevenness and subtle coloring of the porcelain surface creates a contrast between light and shadow, expressing a beauty that is as if it were a slice of a natural landscape.
Among them are a number of "tableware" made using unique techniques. The simple designs are delicate and all of them will enrich your daily life. The "tableware" are also light and extremely easy to use. Once you try them, you won't be able to let them go.
Hirotaka Tobimatsu's works illuminate our everyday lives and create new value. Experience their appeal at the nokaze store and try incorporating them into your own space.
