A rimmed plate with beautifully angled 'shinogi' carving and a perfectly convenient depth

Masanori Yamamoto's "Shinogi Rimmed Plate Large Black" is a beautiful Shigaraki ware with angled 'shinogi' carving, meticulously hand-carved one by one. Its slight depth makes it ideal for dishes with sauces, such as salads, curries, and pasta.

This versatile and beautiful plate can be used for both Japanese and Western cuisine. Its depth is exquisitely balanced, somewhere between a flat plate and a bowl.

※As each piece is handmade, there may be slight individual differences.
※The black specks on the pieces are naturally occurring iron content in the clay that has oxidized during firing. These are part of their individuality, so please compare the unique expressions of each piece.

Characteristics of Masanori Yamamoto's Works

Masanori Yamamoto's works are characterized by the "shinogi" pattern, meticulously hand-carved one by one. The "shinogi" pattern is rhythmic and dynamic, giving the vessels a rich expression. There are three series: one with diagonal "shinogi" patterns, another called "Nawame" (rope pattern) which creates a warm, knitted cable-like appearance by carving vertical lines and then finely carving diagonally into the remaining areas, and the "Hana Shinogi" (flower shinogi) series, which appears as elegant as blooming flowers.
