One-of-a-kind Pottery from Narutaki-gama, Inheriting the Bizen Ware Tradition

Narutaki-gama, located in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, is a pottery studio known for creating works that blend the traditional beauty of Bizen ware with modern sensibilities.

We value techniques that maximize the power of "earth" and "fire," the origins of Bizen ware. Without using glaze, the pottery is fired for about two weeks at temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees Celsius, resulting in unique surface patterns such as "goma" (sesame seed pattern) and "hidasuki" (scarlet marks). We also produce tableware that fits seamlessly into modern dining settings.

Committed to the natural firing process of a climbing kiln, we strive for perfection in our "growing pottery," which gains more character with use. Our pieces are substantial yet exude a certain warmth.

*Please note that due to the nature of Bizen ware, the surface patterns of each piece may vary. The actual product may differ from the photos. Please be aware of this before purchasing.
