A unique mug cup born from fired earth

Tomokazu Kawasumi (Kasama ware)'s "SB/mug cup" is a mug cup with Kawasumi's unique design, created with a combination of crack technique and brown color. "Sand" likens the color of the Kasama clay itself to the earth, and "Bark" is named after the meaning of torn wood-grain-like patterns.

Tomokazu Kawasumi's pottery is characterized by a unique texture created by the warmth inherent in Kasama clay and metallic glazes. The surface of his works reveals natural patterns formed during firing, showcasing diverse expressions depending on the viewing angle and lighting.

He also has a captivating series with textures that seem impossible to have originated from earth. The "Rock Bark" series features rock and tree bark textures that emerge by carving each piece of clay and firing it with a burner, and the "Zebra" series, which evokes the image of a zebra with its black and white pattern.
