A vessel where art quietly blossoms in your daily life

The "Etsuke Sumikiri Chokakuzara" (Painted Square-Cut Rectangular Plate) from TATA Pottery Studio is a piece where the "sumikiri" design, which adds softness to a linear form, and delicate painting quietly resonate. On the refined porcelain base crafted by Taiki Tanaka, Kyoto-style painter Kei Tanabe gently draws plants, animals, and landscapes with soft lines, adorning the dining table like a small painting. It is perfect for serving baked goods, appetizers, and Japanese sweets, and its design, which allows for enjoying negative space, enhances the food. It is "usable art" unique to TATA, combining both utility and beauty.

Ceramic Artist Taiki Tanaka (TATA Pottery Studio) who lives with earth

Taiki Tanaka, after graduating from the Kyoto Seika University Ceramics course, honed his skills under Mr. Mori Murata and became independent in 2015. Since 2024, he has been releasing his personal works (raw clay / vessel making) under the name "Taiki Tanaka," while his collaborative works with Kyoto-style painter Kei Tanabe are presented as "TATA Pottery Studio." Taiki Tanaka's craftsmanship is characterized by his pursuit of "beauty in utility" and his commitment to the story connecting earth to vessels. The flow of natural glaze and the unevenness created by wood-fired kilns on his vessels appear as if the firing process itself has been confirmed on the pieces, and the subtle variations in their expressions bring small dramas to everyday life. TATA Pottery Studio also features collaborative works with Kyoto-style painter Kei Tanabe. The vibrant paintings enrich the expression of the sake cups, with Tanaka's playfulness and Tanabe's delicate brushwork shining through in the painted works.
