Nobuhiko Tanaka
Born in Nerima, Tokyo in 1966, Tanaka graduated from Rikkyo University and studied at the Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Technical College. After working at Happugama in Shiga and teaching at a pottery class, he opened his own kiln in Iruma, Saitama in 1994. His signature works are "colored vessels" featuring overlapping shades of soft, gentle colors. The delicate gradations and soft, matte texture create a comfortable feel that makes you want to touch them. His vessels, which have also been used at the Danish restaurant "Noma," enhance the colors of the food while creating a soft atmosphere on the entire table. He currently runs a pottery class, "Tanaka Pottery Studio," in Iruma, where he shares the joy of making vessels while also deepening his own expression.
