A delightful mug featuring a cute panda
After completing the ceramics course at Kyoto Seika University, Daiki Tanaka honed his skills under Mori Murata and became independent in 2015. From 2024, his individual works (raw clay/pottery) are released under the name "Daiki Tanaka," while his collaborative works with painter Kei Tanabe are released as "TATA Pottery Studio." Daiki Tanaka's craftsmanship is characterized by his pursuit of "beauty in utility" and his dedication to the narrative that connects clay to vessel. The natural glaze flows and the irregularities from the wood-fired kiln appear as if the firing process has found its answer in the vessel, and the fluctuations in its expression bring small dramas to everyday life. TATA Pottery Studio also features collaborative works with Kei Tanabe, a Kyoto ware painter. The vibrant painting enriches the expression of the sake cups, and Tanaka's playfulness and Tanabe's delicate brushwork shine through in the painted works.
