Octagonal plate with a cute bear drawing
After graduating from the ceramics course at Kyoto Seika University, Daiki Tanaka honed his skills under Mr. Mori Murata and became independent in 2015. Starting in 2024, his personal works (raw clay / pottery making) are released under the name "Daiki Tanaka," while collaborative works with painter Kei Tanabe are released as "TATA Pottery Studio." Daiki Tanaka's craftsmanship is characterized by his pursuit of "beauty in utility" and his respect for the story that connects earth to vessel. The flow of natural glaze and the unevenness created by firing in a wood-fired kiln appear as if the firing process has been answered in the vessel, and the subtle fluctuations in its expression bring a small drama to everyday life. TATA Pottery Studio also offers collaborative works with Kei Tanabe, a Kyoto ware painter. The vibrant painting enriches the expression of the sake cup, and Tanaka's playful spirit and Tanabe's delicate brushwork shine through in the painted works.
