Characteristics of Masanori Yamamoto's works

Masanori Yamamoto's works are characterized by "shinogi" patterns meticulously carved one by one by hand. The "shinogi" patterns are rhythmic and dynamic, giving the vessels rich expressions. There are three types of series: a series with diagonal "shinogi" patterns, a "rope pattern" series created by carving vertical lines and then finely carving diagonal lines into the remaining parts to produce a warm expression reminiscent of knitted cable patterns, and a "hana-shinogi" (flower shinogi) series that appears as splendid as blooming flowers.
