Characteristics of Masanori Yamamoto's works

Masanori Yamamoto's works are characterized by "shinogi" patterns, meticulously hand-carved one by one.The "shinogi" patterns are rhythmic and dynamic, giving the vessels a rich expression. There are three series: one with diagonal "shinogi" patterns, another called "Nawame" (rope pattern) which creates a warm, knitted-rope-like appearance by carving vertical lines and then finely carving diagonally into the remaining parts, and the "Hana-shinogi" (flower shinogi) series, which appears華やか (gorgeous) like blooming flowers.

Masanori Yamamoto's vessels, a fusion of Shigaraki ware tradition and unique sensibility

Masanori Yamamoto's vessels, created in the traditional kiln inherited from his grandfather, carry on the tradition of Shigaraki ware while being crafted with his unique sensibility. He produces a variety of vessels, including rimmed plates, soup cups, curry plates, tea cups, and mugs. By coordinating the "shinogi" patterns on your table, you can create a vibrant impression. Furthermore, his works are microwave and dishwasher safe, combining practicality for daily use with beauty, and are highly acclaimed for their designs that enhance food. He focuses on preserving the subtle expressions and textures unique to handmade items and providing lightweight, easy-to-handle vessels.
