A small, tranquil blue plate with a soft, diffused light

Nishino Nozomi's "4-inch Plate" is a beautiful, translucent piece with a pale blue in the center and a transparent white that spreads outwards. It depicts a serene scene, like a drop of light falling on the surface of water, gently spreading out from there.

The glaze is applied thinly and delicately, revealing a soft luster and depth depending on the angle of the light.
Although small, it has a strong presence, and when you place Japanese sweets, small appetizers, fruit, etc. on it, the colors of the food will softly pop out.

The pure and tranquil impression is complemented by a faint hint of earthy warmth.
The "quiet kindness" that Nishino weaves will gently add color to your daily dining table.

Nozomi Nishino's profile

Originally from Hachioji, Tokyo, Nishino studied at Tokyo Zokei University before moving to Gifu Prefecture, home to Mino ware, where she studied ceramic design and techniques at the Tajimi Ceramic Design Institute. Currently based in Mizunami, Gifu, she creates pieces using the inlay technique. Inlay, which involves carving delicate geometric dots and lines into the glossy white porcelain base and then embedding colored clay within, is captivating with its rhythmic patterns and delicate colors. Her techniques are applied not only to tableware, but also to small pieces such as brooches and earrings, which can be enjoyed as "small vessels" to wear. While valuing the softness and smooth texture of the clay, Nishino's pieces, with their fresh and refined appearance, subtly add color to your everyday life.
