Hideki Chono's "Medium-Length Washi-Paste Tray, Brown, Hiroshima" is a rectangular wooden tray made by pasting washi paper onto wood and then coating it with lacquer. Every single step of the process is carried out by Chono himself.

The washi paper pasted on the bowl allows you to enjoy the texture of washi paper, but it can also be washed with water, so it can be used for a variety of purposes other than just as a tea snack.

The flat design without any edges means that even if you place Japanese sweets directly on it, the food will definitely stand out. It is also ideal for placing small items, and the possibilities for use are endless.

It is water and oil resistant, so you can serve food directly on it. After use, please wash it gently with detergent if it is oily.

Artist Hidenori Chono - Wooden trays that maximize the beauty of nature

Chono Hideki was born in Kyoto in 1971 and is a woodworker who has been deeply fascinated by the world of woodworking and has honed his skills.

In 2001, he enrolled in the Ishikawa Prefecture Turning Technique Training Institute to learn traditional turning techniques. Over the course of four years at the institute, he thoroughly mastered woodworking techniques using the potter's wheel, building the foundation for creating delicate and sophisticated works.

After graduating from the training center in 2005, he established his own studio, "Ibuki Studio," in the mountains of Ishikawa Prefecture, where he began his full-fledged artistic career, producing warm works that allow one to feel the breath of wood.

In 2007, he held solo and group exhibitions around the country, and his works began to attract widespread attention. His unique style, which combines the natural texture of wood with precise turning techniques, continues to fascinate many people.

Since April 2009, he has moved his base of operations to Hiroshima, where he continues to create in this new environment. While preserving traditional techniques, Hidenori Chono continues to challenge himself by creating woodwork pieces that fit into modern lifestyles. His works are all masterpieces that blend seamlessly into everyday life and enrich the hearts of those who use them.
