A white porcelain jar that celebrates quiet moments

Nishino Nozomi's "Tea Cup" is a small vessel made of glossy white porcelain with a pale inlaid pattern. Its rounded form fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, creating a sense of gentle warmth in the midst of tranquility.

Fine dots and lines are engraved into the white porcelain body using the inlay technique , and colored clay is carefully embedded within. The patterns, visible beneath the glaze, shine faintly depending on the angle of the light, creating a quiet rhythm like a sound floating in the air.

When tea is poured into the cup, the light reflects off the surface of the liquid, faintly revealing the inlaid pattern - even this fleeting moment is part of the beauty of this vessel.

The more you use it every day, the more it will become familiar to your hand and the light will soften and deepen. Nishino's teacups are vessels that develop a "quiet beauty" over time as the user uses them.

Nozomi Nishino's profile

Originally from Hachioji, Tokyo, Nishino studied at Tokyo Zokei University before moving to Gifu Prefecture, home to Mino ware, where she studied ceramic design and techniques at the Tajimi Ceramic Design Institute. Currently based in Mizunami, Gifu, she creates pieces using the inlay technique. Inlay, which involves carving delicate geometric dots and lines into the glossy white porcelain base and then embedding colored clay within, is captivating with its rhythmic patterns and delicate colors. Her techniques are applied not only to tableware, but also to small pieces such as brooches and earrings, which can be enjoyed as "small vessels" to wear. While valuing the softness and smooth texture of the clay, Nishino's pieces, with their fresh and refined appearance, subtly add color to your everyday life.
