A pot with a distinctive brushstroke pattern that gives it a heavy feel

The "Brushed 7-inch Shallow Bowl" by Nukaga Maruya is a bowl characterized by its heavy-looking brushed pattern (a pattern created by applying white mud with a brush to the piece). There are also glaze pools here and there, giving it a rough texture that exudes strength and wildness.

The size and depth make it suitable for a variety of occasions and uses, from main dishes to curry dishes.

Nukaga Maruya's works are made using coarse-grained clay, and are masterpieces that allow you to experience the unique charm and richness that only earthenware can offer.

*Since each item is handmade, there may be individual differences in color and pattern.
*Due to the iron and pebbles contained in the raw clay, iron spots, pinholes, stone cracks, and crazing may be visible, but we hope you will enjoy these as part of the beauty of the pottery.
* Before use, soak in water to prevent color from seeping in and odors from transferring.

Nukaga Maruya - "Tableware" using iron glaze and Mishima pattern that combines nostalgia with modern sophistication

Mr. Nukaga Maruya is a ceramic artist born in Tokyo in 1983. After graduating from Aichi Prefectural Ceramics Technical College in 2003, he worked at a pottery factory and honed his skills. He then went independent in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, and began his ceramics career in earnest.

At first glance, the works of Nukaga Maruya appear modest, but upon closer inspection, they exude a powerful presence. His "utensils," made with iron glazes and Mishima patterns, combine nostalgia with modern sophistication. His transparent glaze works in particular shine brilliantly when exposed to light, and their smooth texture feels pleasant in the hand.

Characteristics of Nukaga Enya's works

The works of Nukaga Maruya have a rich individuality that is woven together with iron glaze and Mishima hand.

Iron-glazed vessels evoke a sense of stillness and strength, as if one were in a deep forest, and the natural patterns that emerge during firing add even more depth to the appearance.

Mishima-de tableware combines the delicacy and warmth of traditional techniques, and each unique pattern resonates with the viewer as if weaving a story. The transparent glaze of the tableware catches the light and shines brilliantly, its transparency beautifully enhancing any dish and adding a special touch to your dining table.

These "tableware" have the power to make your everyday life a little more luxurious, and you will discover new charms every time you pick them up. Each piece's unique character resonates with the others, bringing deep joy to the lives of those who use them.

*As these are handmade, there may be individual differences in color and shape. Please enjoy the unique texture that can only be achieved through handcrafting.
