Profile of TATA pottery studio (Daiki Tanaka)

After completing the ceramics course at Kyoto Seika University, Daiki Tanaka honed his skills under Mori Murata before becoming independent in 2015. Since 2024, he has been creating his own personal works (raw clay/pottery making) under the name "Daiki Tanaka," while collaborating with painter Kei Tanabe under the name "TATA Pottery Studio." Daiki Tanaka's craftsmanship is characterized by his pursuit of "beauty in utility" and his appreciation for the story that connects the clay to the finished vessel. The flow of natural glaze applied to the vessels and the unevenness caused by wood-fired kilns appear as if the firing process has been answered by the vessel itself, and the subtle variations in their expression bring small dramas to everyday life. In addition, TATA Pottery Studio also develops collaborative works with Kyoto ware painter Kei Tanabe. The vibrant paintings enrich the expression of the sake cups, and the painted works showcase Tanaka's playful spirit and Tanabe's delicate brushwork.
