Artist Shizuka Fujiwara - "Simple but cool" Shigaraki ware

Shizuka Fujiwara was born in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture in 1986 and grew up surrounded by art and design from an early age. After graduating from the design department of Shigaraki High School in Shiga Prefecture in 2005 and learning the basics of design, she embarked on a journey into the world of Shigaraki ware.

In 2018, she began making pottery at the long-established Shigaraki pottery manufacturer "Kosendo," and began full-scale creative activities with her husband, the ceramist Jun Fujiwara. While learning traditional Shigaraki ware techniques, she has been working hard to create works that utilize her unique sensibilities.

In 2022, she will present her work at a special exhibition, expanding her activities as an artist, and will hold her first solo exhibition at the gallery "nokaze" in 2023. "Simple yet cool," Shizuka Fujiwara's works have captivated the hearts of many people as vessels that bring comfortable beauty into everyday life.
