Artist Fujiwara Shisuka - "Simple but cool" Shigaraki ware
Shizuko Fujiwara was born in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture in 1986 and grew up surrounded by art and design from an early age. After graduating from the Design Department of Shigaraki Prefectural High School in 2005 and learning the basics of design, she embarked on a journey into the world of Shigaraki ware.
In 2018, she began working at Shigaraki's long-established pottery manufacturer, Kosendo, and began full-scale creative activities together with her husband, ceramic artist Jun Fujiwara. While learning traditional Shigaraki ware techniques, she has been working hard to create works that utilize her unique sensibilities.
In 2022, she will present her works at a special exhibition, expanding her activities as an artist, and will hold her first solo exhibition at the gallery "nokaze" in 2023. Shizuka Fujiwara's works, which are "simple yet cool," have captivated the hearts of many people as vessels that bring comfortable beauty into everyday life.

Shizuko Fujiwara was born in Kyoto and raised in Shigaraki. From a young age, she played in nature and grew up free-spirited. Eventually, she discovered pottery, and while working with clay, she found herself in a dialogue with her inner self.
"People should not compare themselves to others or compete for superiority or inferiority. I want to understand this and become someone who can be proud of who I am." Behind this statement, Shizuka Fujiwara has many life experiences. Shizuka Fujiwara's attitude has resonated with and moved many people.
