Artist Daisuke Ikeda - A new story of herringbone pottery

Daisuke Ikeda was born in Niigata Prefecture in 1979 and grew up in Tokyo. Influenced by his parents, he was familiar with folk art from an early age and grew up surrounded by its beauty. In 2001, he majored in sculpture at the Department of Art, Faculty of Letters, Tamagawa University, and during that time he encountered ceramics and became drawn to the world of pottery.

In 2002, he began working as a studio artist at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, where he began his ceramic career. In 2003, he joined Raku Kobo Co., Ltd. in Shigaraki, where he worked on ceramic production and design, honing his skills and sensibilities.

In 2007, he set up his own studio in Machida, Tokyo, and became independent. Since then, he has continued to work as a ceramic artist while pursuing his own unique style of expression. Ikeda Daisuke's works are known for their unique beauty, which combines the influence of folk art, which he has been familiar with since childhood, with a foundation in sculpture.
