Scarlet Trail in the Palm of Your Hand - Sake Cup Scarlet Tasuki
Oe Hitoshi's "Scarlet Sake Cup" is a small vessel that brings the traditional Japanese technique of "Hidasuki" to your daily evening drinks. The traces of the straw wrapping are burned red, creating flowing scarlet lines against the rustic, yakishime clay background. The slightly thick wall and smooth interior comfortably retain the temperature and aroma of the sake, enhancing its tranquil appearance and flavor. The individual variations in the pale scarlet color create a unique texture for each one, making each cup a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a sushi cup that embodies the Japanese aesthetic.

Modern Bizen craftsman Oe Hitori, who carries the memories of earth and fire
After training for six years at the Bizen ware Rokusei pottery manufacturer Tokeido, Oe Kazuto began working as an artist in Bizen, Okayama in 2011. In 2015, he moved his studio to Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, and continues to produce unglazed, Yakishime pieces, including those using the "Hidasuki" technique, which involves wrapping the piece in straw before firing. While inheriting tradition, his pieces incorporate modern, sharp forms and are highly regarded as vessels that mature with use, conveying the memories of earth and fire in your hands.
