Characteristics of Masanori Yamamoto's works

Masanori Yamamoto's works are characterized by "shinogi" patterns meticulously carved by hand. The "shinogi" patterns are rhythmic and dynamic, giving the vessels a rich expression. There are three series: a series with diagonally applied "shinogi" patterns, a "Nawame" (rope-pattern) series that creates a warm, knitted cable-like texture by carving vertical lines and then making fine diagonal cuts in the remaining parts, and a "Hana Shinogi" (flower shinogi) series that appears as splendid as blooming flowers.

Masanori Yamamoto's vessels, where Shigaraki ware tradition and unique sensibility converge

Masanori Yamamoto's vessels, crafted in the traditional kiln inherited from his grandfather, carry on the tradition of Shigaraki ware while being created with his unique sensibility. He produces a variety of vessels such as rim plates, soup cups, curry plates, teacups, and mugs. By coordinating the dining table with "shinogi" patterns, a splendid impression can be created. Furthermore, they are microwave and dishwasher safe, combining practicality suitable for everyday use with beauty, and their design, which enhances dishes, is highly regarded. He focuses on cherishing the subtle expressions and textures unique to handmade items and providing lightweight and easy-to-handle vessels.
