Asami Maeda - Beautiful white porcelain for everyday life

Asami Maeda was born in Tokyo in 1988 and completed her foundation course in oil painting at Musashino Art University in 2006. She then pursued a career in philosophy to broaden her horizons, graduating from the Department of Philosophy at Kokugakuin University's Faculty of Letters in 2011. She has delved deeply into the fusion of academia and art.

He continued his studies and completed his master's degree at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Letters in 2013. He then became fascinated with the world of ceramics and began creating his own work. In 2017, he moved to Kyoto and became independent, fully embarking on his career as a ceramic artist.

While currently focusing on ceramics, she also works on crafts such as plant-dyed Japanese paper, and continues to produce works that utilize her unique sensibility and philosophical perspective. Maeda Asami's works captivate many people with their sheer beauty.

Characteristics of Maeda Asami's works

Maeda Asami mainly works on white porcelain. This white porcelain is not only beautiful and translucent, but also durable and easy to use, making it a popular dish that can be used without hesitation in everyday life. It features a simple design that brings out the color and texture of the food, making it an appealing choice for pairing with any cuisine.

Using a technique called "itchin," the piping patterns decorate the vessels as adorable accents. In addition, the "uchikomi" decoration, which imitates leaves from nature, expresses the delicate veins in great detail, allowing you to experience the beauty of a piece that seems to have been cut out from nature.

Transparent pure white and profound bronze glaze

There are two main series of works by Asami Maeda available at nokaze: "white porcelain" and "bronze glaze."

White porcelain pieces are characterized by the beauty of their pure, transparent white color and their delicate, smooth texture. Their simple and sophisticated designs not only add elegance to everyday life, but also blend in with a wide range of interiors, both Japanese and Western. These tableware and objects, which combine ease of use and beauty, add elegance to your dining table or any space.

The appeal of bronze-glazed pieces is their unique texture, which combines a sense of weight and warmth. The powerful shapes and rich textures create a striking accent. Each bronze piece is carefully crafted, and the more you use it, the more it develops its own unique character, making it a masterpiece you can cherish for a long time.

The refined beauty of white porcelain. Or the weightiness and warmth of bronze glaze. Both works by Maeda Asami transform everyday life into something special. Be sure to experience these differences and add color to your daily life.

*As these are handmade, there may be individual differences in color and shape. Please enjoy the unique texture that can only be achieved through handcrafting.
