A vessel with tranquil colors that evoke the space between the sky and the earth
Nishino Nozomi's "Tenchi Confectionery Dish" is a vessel with a tranquil color scheme, where pale blue and white blend softly together, evoking the space between the sky and the earth. The glaze changes its appearance depending on the amount of light, creating a translucent piece that seems to reflect the light filtering through the clouds.
The glossy white porcelain base is decorated with delicate patterns created using the inlay technique.
The rhythmic patterns created by carving delicate geometric dots and lines and embedding colored clay into them look like particles of light dancing inside the vessel.
Its intricate decoration and soft colors give it a sense of life amidst tranquility.
When you serve sweets or fruit, the light of the glaze and the inlaid patterns resonate with each other, creating a beautiful image of the tranquil flow of time. As the name "Heaven and Earth" suggests, the worlds of above (light) and below (earth) blend together into one.
This candy dish is a concentrated expression of Nishino's aesthetic sense, where nature and human hands resonate with each other.

Nozomi Nishino's profile
Originally from Hachioji, Tokyo, Nishino studied at Tokyo Zokei University before moving to Gifu Prefecture, home to Mino ware, where she studied ceramic design and techniques at the Tajimi Ceramic Design Institute. Currently based in Mizunami, Gifu, she creates pieces using the inlay technique. Inlay, which involves carving delicate geometric dots and lines into the glossy white porcelain base and then embedding colored clay within, is captivating with its rhythmic patterns and delicate colors. Her techniques are applied not only to tableware, but also to small pieces such as brooches and earrings, which can be enjoyed as "small vessels" to wear. While valuing the softness and smooth texture of the clay, Nishino's pieces, with their fresh and refined appearance, subtly add color to your everyday life.
