A blue and white teacup with gentle flowers blooming

Natsumi Ishii's "Blue and White Margaret Design Round Teacup" is a piece with hand-painted margaret flowers blooming on the soft white porcelain base.
The indigo blue porcelain, which makes use of the varying shades of the brush strokes, creates a simple and calm impression, evoking a sense of nostalgia.

The plump, rounded shape fits gently in the hand, and the smooth texture of the glaze feels pleasant to the touch. When tea is poured into the teapot, the pale indigo flowers softly emerge through the hot water, almost like petals swaying on the water's surface.

A vessel like a single flower that blooms gently in your everyday life.
Ishii's drawings of daisies quietly convey an unadorned beauty and a warmth that is close to the lives of those who use them.

Profile of Natsumi Ishii

He is a potter in Kyoto City. He also works under the name "Ishiimoke" and creates unpretentious tableware for everyday use, focusing on Kohiki pottery. The color of the earth faintly peeks through from beneath the white glaze, giving the pottery its rustic and gentle appearance. Despite its simple shape, the balance of the rim lines and foot is playful, making it a vessel that looks strangely good no matter what is served inside. In addition, in collaboration with painter Kawamura Aiko, he adds patterns reminiscent of the world of antique art, giving the pottery a story-telling quality. His works are filled with a soft and familiar world that is imbued with the atmosphere of Kyoto.
