A screw that holds time, a vase where earth and metallic glaze intertwine

Kawasumi Tomokazu's "screw/Flower Vase" is a flower vase created by Kawasumi, who pursues his own unique metallic glaze in Kasama. The vase has a slender form reminiscent of an industrial product part, and is accented with a rusty bolt-like "screw," creating a vivid contrast between the simplicity of the clay and the metallic luster.

The roughly fired base captures the texture of the earth, and a deep bronze-colored metallic glaze flows around the neck, creating a depth that changes appearance depending on the angle of the light.

Whether it is a single small flower or a dried flower, the moment it is placed in the space, it tightens the space as an object and emanates a presence that transcends time. The intersection of inorganic and organic elements makes this work symbolic of Kawasumi's theme of "metal born from the earth."

*Please note that each piece is unique, so the pattern may vary slightly depending on the piece.
