"Mishima 4-inch plate" by Maruya Nukaga is a small plate made using the traditional Mishima-te technique. You can enjoy the white pattern of Mishima on a gray background. There are also glaze pools here and there, and the rough texture gives it a sense of strength and wildness.

The size is suitable for everyday use as a dessert plate or side dish, and it can be used for a variety of dishes and occasions, both Japanese and Western.

Nukaga Maruya's works are made using coarse-grained clay, and are masterpieces that allow you to experience the fun and depth of character that only earthenware can offer.

*Since each item is handmade, there may be individual differences in color and pattern.
*Due to the iron and pebbles contained in the raw clay, iron spots, pinholes, stone cracks, and crazing may be visible, but we hope you will enjoy these as part of the beauty of the pottery.
* Before use, soak in water to prevent color transfer and odor transfer.

Nukaga Maruya - "Utsuwa" using iron glaze and Mishima pattern that combines nostalgia with modern sophistication

Mr. Maruya Nukaga is a ceramic artist born in Tokyo in 1983. After graduating from the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Technology College in 2003, he worked at a pottery factory and honed his skills. He then went independent in Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, and began his ceramic work in earnest.

At first glance, the works of Maruya Nukaga are modest, but when you look closely, you can feel their powerful presence. His "vessels" using iron glaze and Mishima patterns combine nostalgia with modern sophistication. His transparent glaze works in particular shine brilliantly when exposed to light, and their smooth texture feels comfortable in the hand.

Characteristics of Enya Nukaga's works

Mr. Nukaga Maruya's works have a rich individuality that is woven together with iron glaze and Mishima-te.

Iron-glazed pottery gives off a sense of stillness and strength, as if one were in a deep forest, and the natural patterns that emerge during firing give the ware even more depth.

Mishimade's tableware combines the delicacy and warmth of traditional techniques, and each and every one of their different patterns resonates with the viewer as if they are weaving a story. Transparent glaze tableware shines brilliantly in the light, and its transparency beautifully brings out the flavor of any dish, adding a special color to the dining table.

These "tableware" have the power to make your everyday life a little more luxurious, and you can discover new charms every time you pick them up. Each piece's individuality resonates with the others, bringing deep joy to the lives of those who use them.

*Because these are handmade, there may be individual differences in color and shape. Please enjoy the unique texture of handmade items.
