Characteristics of Masanori Yamamoto's works

Masanori Yamamoto's works are characterized by the "shinogi" pattern, meticulously carved by hand. The "shinogi" pattern is rhythmic and dynamic, giving the vessels a rich expression. There are three types of series: a series with diagonally applied "shinogi" patterns, a "nawame" (rope pattern) series created by carving vertical lines and then finely carving diagonal lines into the remaining parts, creating a warm, knitted cable-like texture, and the "hana-shinogi" (flower shinogi) series, which appears as gorgeous as blooming flowers.

Fusion of Shigaraki Ware Tradition and Unique Sensibility

Masanori Yamamoto's vessels, crafted in the traditional kiln inherited from his grandfather, carry on the tradition of Shigaraki ware while also being created with his unique sensibility. He produces a variety of vessels, including rim plates, soup cups, curry plates, teacups, and mugs. By arranging "shinogi" pattern vessels on the table, a lavish impression can be created.
